The global funding movement Women Moving Millions (renamed Women Mobilising Millions for Australian market) will be launched in Australia this month in what is being hailed as one of the most ground-breaking moments in the women's movement.

Why women/girls need more attention/funding:
-Australian women are 2.5 times more likely than men to live in poverty during their old age
-Lifetime wages of a 25 year old woman will be $1 million less than those of a 25 year old man ($1.4m and $2.4m respectively)
-Violence is the leading cause of death, disability & illness of Australian women aged 15-48
-In Australia, maternal mortality rates for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander women are more than 2.5 times as high as for other women
-Women do two thirds of the world's work, receive less than 5% of the world's income and own less than 1% of the world's property
-Worldwide, women constitute about 70% of the absolute poor - those living on less than a dollar a day
-The total value of women's unpaid house and farm work adds ONE THIRD to the world's GNP (gross national product)
-Each year - an estimated 800,000 people are trafficked across borders -80% of them are women and girls, who mostly end up in the commercial sex trade.
