Under Control U15+
20 - 23 July 2012
This mesmerising highlight of the 2011 Berlinale came into stark relief when the events
following the Japanese earthquake emerged one month later.

Putty Hill U18+
26 - 31 July 2012
For Putty Hill, Matthew Porterfield returns to his native Baltimore to explore a community bound together by the death of a young man. Shot in twelve days on a shoe-string budget, Putty Hill sits in a stylistic zone between documentary and fiction. The film's quietly assured style makes for a fresh cinematic experience, suggesting that Porterfield is a definite talent to watch.

Hamilton U18+
29 + 30 July 2012
Set over the course of two days in a blue collar suburb of Baltimore, new mother Lena tries to reconnect with her baby's father before she leaves town for the Summer. For his feature debut, Matthew Porterfield envisaged a suggestive, pared-down structure that avoided narrative conventions that distort conflict and oversimplify life. With nuanced performances from his leads and thoughtful composition, Hamilton achieves all of this and more.
