Leading plastic surgeon and Medispa founder, Dr. Anh Nguyen, shares her Summer Skincare Hacks including what treatments to avoid this Summer.
1. Use Vitamin A at night
Vitamin A has long been used for its ability to turn over dead skin cells, stimulating collagen production and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Topical retinoids stimulate collagen production, making them effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They can also help to even out skin tone by fading age spots.
Vitamin A helps to improve problematic skin conditions such as acne by helping to normalise oil production, leaving skin less oily and more balanced. It assists in promoting and maintaining a healthy dermis and epidermis - the top two layers of the skin.
Vitamin A is primarily used at night only.
2. Prevent wrinkles on your face and décolletage in Summer
It is absolutely crucial that an SPF 50+ good quality sunscreen is used to protect your face and décolletage during summer.
3. Sunscreen needs to become a part of your morning routine
Apply sunscreen before you apply make up in the morning. This should be the start of your makeup routine.
4. Combat dry Summer Skin with Hydration
Hydration is crucial during summer, as Australia's harsh summer heat and conditions, combined with any wind will quickly dry out and leave our skin dry and prone to damage. This cannot be underestimated. Your go-to Summer treatment should be hydrating facials.
5. What treatments to absolutely avoid in Summer.
Avoid heavy-duty skin peels and Fraxel or any treatment that will make your skin more susceptible to sun damage.
