Centennial Parklands is offering a new photography course, taught by professional photographer Chris Gleisner who will share her experience and knowledge over three sessions. Each lesson will run from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm on Sunday 31 May, 14 and 28 June 2009 and is suitable for beginners who will get to know their camera and how to take great shots, to more experienced photographers who want to improve their skills.

“This course is suitable for anyone to attend but is especially useful for people would like to learn how to make better use of their camera. A fancy camera is not necessary and students may use film or digital cameras. There are a lot of people out there who have fantastic cameras but end up setting them on automatic because they don't understand all the functions. In this course, students not only learn that some of these functions exist but also some fun creative techniques to make use of them,” says Gleisner.

Using the stunning natural surrounds of Centennial Park for inspiration and subject matter, Gleisner will teach students how to take photographs of people, flora, fauna and landscape. “Its about getting to know your camera and practising your skills in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere that is beautiful and accessible. People can ask questions as theyre taking photos in the Park,” says Gleisner.

A Sydney-based freelance photographer and teacher, Gleisners works have appeared in a number of local exhibitions, portraying local and international images, including Clovelly Artists 2008 (Gallery East), Sydney Now 2008 (Sydney Museum) and Sydney Life 2002/2007 (City of Sydney).
