Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD), a youth charity with the primary focus of changing lives through music, announced today its MMAD World Competition 2009. In an effort to motivate, encourage and empower ordinary people to become world changers, the MMAD World Competition has secured a new sponsor and now provides two categories for you to be involved.

Channel [V] has come on board as media partner of this initiative and will be helping to launch the competition with a new category MMAD [V] Clip where musicians can enter a film clip that aims to make a difference to the world. The winner will have their clip played on Channel [V].

MMAD Ambassador MC Blue from The Potbelleez said, "This is a chance for artists and people to give back in some way and make the world a better place while doing what they love - playing music. The great thing about this competition is it's open to all ages around the world so anyone, anywhere from any culture can have a go."

This annual competition will be launched at a music gig at MELT in Sydney's Kings Cross with guest artists Sally Singleton, Dominic Brook and The Cherry Pickers ( and the Potbelleez to be confirmed).

Dominic Brook, founder and director of MMAD agrees saying, "We hope that this competition will lead to more people being proactive in contributing to their world on either a small or large scale. There are many ways one can use music to fundraise for a worthy cause, offering music to soup kitchens for the homeless, delivering an important message through a song or music related idea, running a workshop or community event to help people, creating a film clip to address certain issues, or even busking with specific and unique twists to brighten the streets where they live. The sky's the limit."

So get moving, get MMAD! Round up some friends and brainstorm what MMAD way you can make a difference.

Enter the MMAD World Competition via two avenues:

1. A person or group who makes a difference in their community wins $2000 towards music equipment or towards their next positive community music initiative.
2. The MMAD [V] Clip where artists can enter a film clip that delivers a positive message will win 2 weeks airplay on Channel [V]. Entrants are asked to produce inspiring and creative ways to make a difference through music within their own communities, to their immediate environment, or in the lives of the less fortunate.
