Hans Christian Andersen's fable gets a spirited Disney makeover in this 1989 adaptation, one of their last animated films to use traditional hand-painted cels. Part of the film's success can be attributed to the Oscar-winning tunes by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken including Under the Sea which won Best Original Song.
