The 3rd annual Irish Film Festival returns on Wednesday 29 March - Saturday 08 April 2017, with a wealth of cinematic masterpieces celebrating the distinctive character of the Emerald Isle. The Festival will be opening its doors with laugh out loud comedy A Date for Mad Mary and will run Wednesday 29 March – Sunday 02 April in Sydney, and for the first time from Wednesday 06 April – Saturday 08 April in Melbourne.
A Date for Mad Mary is a tough and tender story about friendship, first love and staying sane in small town Ireland. 'Mad' Mary McArdle needs to find a date for her best friend's wedding. But her attempts to find a partner are a disaster … until she meets Jess and everything changes. With a perfectly honed sense of place and time, this is a touching, nuanced drama with moments of wry laugh-out-loud comedy, endearing characters, and a stunning performance by Seána Kerslake.
A Date for Mad Mary has won numerous prizes including Best Feature at the Galway Film Festival and audience favourite at the Gaze festival in Dublin.

The Festival will be announcing the full 2017 program Tuesday 07 March with an eclectic mix of features and shorts that weave traditional Irish culture into modern day cinema.
