Interview with Lihini Rose

Interview with Lihini Rose

Multi-talented Australian vocalist and songwriter Lihini releases the collab of the year, teaming
up with Benjaminenrico on her new hit, It's My Life, co-written with Sean Kingston of mega-
hit Beautiful Girl fame. Lihini kicked off her solo career in 2021 after leaving her position as

one of Australia's top Afrobeats choreographers. The crew behind It's My Life is also working
on upcoming projects with A-list musicians, including Chris Brown. In a brief time, Lihini's
enthusiasm and desire for music have propelled her into the limelight, fast-tracking her musical
presence on the global music stage. Lihini's previous album releases attracted a huge
worldwide fanbase, breaking out in Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Her
dance videos went viral, generating a legion of loyal followers, which led to her choreographing
acts such as Wizkid, Juls, and A-star. As Lihini says about the new release, 'The song was
written prior to covid and was meant to be released a lot earlier. The vibe of the song became
strong after lockdowns, being about having the right to party and freedom instead of working,
the ability to party and enjoy a party life! Benjaminenrico came up with the idea of having
Sean Kingston feature while he was touring Australia, giving the song more flava. And the rest
is history. After countless hours in the studio with the Banton Bros, the song is now ready to
hit the stations nationally!' It's My Life is an unforgettable contemporary pop smash, blending
hooks, empowerment and Lihini's superstar allure.

Interview with Lihini Rose

How would you describe your music?

My music is definitely a mix of rnb, Afro and pop. Alot of my tracks are easy listens, either something that brings a vibe or is meaningful.

Can you tell us about (your new song/upcoming gig/video), what was the inspiration?

My new single 'It's my life' is about having a good time, partying and living your life unapologetically.

What are your musical influences?

Beyoncé

Nicki Minaj

Jhene aiko

Ariana grande

Do you prefer performing live or recording?

I love recording but nothing beats performing live. It's my favourite!

What motivates you most when writing music?

Using my music as a channel to express my emotions and knowing I can connect with listeners when they hear it excites me. I write from a place of wanting to release and heal for myself and others, and to make the listener feel good.

I really enjoy delving into my emotions with my writing, it's so therapeutic.

Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Chloe Bailey's new album 'In Pieces' and Latto's  album '777' have been super inspirational in creating my new work.

Jhene aiko's album 'Chilombo' is still my favourite to this day. That was the album that actually sparked my love for song writing and making music.

What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

I'd say Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj were my first inspirations. Since I was 7 I would listen and watch them and it was since then that I had the knowing of what I wanted to do. However my own experiences are what pushed me into making music myself, I had a lot of emotions to express and writing became my way of exploring them.

If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Chris brown and Jhene Aiko would be the 2 artists I'd love to collaborate with next.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced in the music industry?

Finding a place where my talent was truly appreciated in the entertainment industry was a challenge for me when I first started. But as I've grown its become clearer where my target audiences are and where my talent is respected, which is where I found the people that know what to do with it. Working with the right people really matters and being in the right rooms matter. Sometimes you can be in a room full of people that wont want to bring out your best and that can be confusing as an artist. With time I've been able to fully explore my potential and own my lane by continuing to stay focused on the art and knowing my purpose in it.

What's next, for you?

New music, better music! Each song I make time goes by gets better and different! I'll also be putting out more collaborations with artists I've been inspired by.
