Everyone's romanticising 2016 but Flo Gallop is here to remind you that 2008 was better. 'noughties kid' is being debuted on Radio 1's Future Pop ahead of its highly anticipated release on Friday 23rd Jan 2026.
'noughties kid' is the first release of 2026 from Flo Gallop and the opening track from her forthcoming debut EP. A bold, nostalgia fuelled pop anthem, the single looks past the current obsession with 2016 and instead asks a better question… what about 2008? A time of living rent free, no boy drama, SunnyD on tap, and racing home from school so you didn't miss Hannah Montana or The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
Produced by Nashville based producer Mark Siegel, Noughties Kid blends warm throwback melodies with modern pop production and playful Y2K sonic details, including dial up samples and instantly recognisable lyrical nods from a Busted reference to a line about Nick and Miley that will take you right back. Funny, self aware and emotionally honest, the track captures the chaos, confidence and comfort of growing up on early 2000s pop culture.
Visually, the nostalgia runs even deeper. All content for Noughties Kid has been shot on Flo's mum's old digital camera, deliberately embracing the unpolished feel of the time. Marking the start of the 'noughties kid' era, the single sets the tone for Flo Gallop's debut EP, due later this year, alongside her biggest headline show to date and a busy festival season this summer.
"You thought 2016 was back … well Flo Gallop is bringing major throwback energy with noughties kid - infectious and nostalgic and a dose of pure pop joy" - Radio 1's Jodie Bryant
