Arthur and Corinne Cantrill have been making films together for over fifty years. Light Years celebrates the remarkable career of these singular Australian artists. As pioneering avant-garde filmmakers, they have worked with unwavering passion and focus, creating a body of work that remains intriguing, authentic and utterly original. This exhibition includes a selection of films that pre-date the digital era, showing on beautifully preserved16mm prints, along with notes and artefacts used by the Cantrills in the creation of their work. It also provides an overview of the Cantrill's extensive international screening history, through flyers, posters, press clippings and photographs; from New York's MoMA to the Melbourne Super 8 Group.
