Amy Hetherington Big Summer Comedy

Amy Hetherington Big Summer Comedy

Recent years have seen Darwin's Amy Hetherington become one of the most beloved faces on the Australian comedy circuit. Bringing together natural charisma with an unashamedly optimistic sense of humor that isn't afraid to look in on itself, Hetherington's brand of funnies has won her acclaim across the country, as well as a loyal following nationwide.

Part of Hetherington's appeal is in her relentless pursuit of making a crowd smile – she knows how to read a room and focus the energy as much on her audiences, as she does on herself. Her material, whether it be centered on navigating life in the Northern Territory, as a young mother (or both), is relatable and open.

Finding fulfillment in the madness, Hetherington leaves it all on stage; a place she thrives, and this summer, she's gearing up to do it all again.

Announcing the fittingly titled Big Summer Comedy Tour, Hetherington will be bringing a new set of material to venues through Western Australia and South Australia from January through into March 2024.

Says Hetherington of this new set, crowds can expect new stories and a fun vibe to reconnect with her through.

"This show is a culmination of several shows I've written about being a parent. It's about the chaos of juggling life as a Mum and finding your identity in that madness. It's also about the chaos of doing all of this in a place like Darwin, and the silly things that happen in hot, tropical places filled with crazy people.

There's stories about growing up in a regional town, oversharing about trying to feel sexy after having a baby and a whole heap of jokes about silly things I've done. I'm a big believer in sharing the dumb things I do because it helps other people feel a bit more normal about their own mistakes… lucky I'm an idiot so I'm never short of material.

Overall these shows are a good time. It's about sharing a bit of optimism and the reality of being a parent. It's A perfect night for parents, would-be parents or never-would-I-ever parents. A solid mum's night out. Or bring the partner… if they're not laughing they're learning."

AMY HETHERINGTON

25 shows in seven weeks, driving no less, Hetherington is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to bringing this show to audiences in the West and in the South.

And these aren't to be missed. Having enjoyed numerous sold out shows at the Darwin Festival, Perth FRINGE WORLD, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Hetherington has spent three years touring and refining her craft.

Having supported the likes of Dave Hughes, Glenn Robbins, Rove McManus, Cal Wilson, Fiona O'Loughlin and more, Hetherington is an award winning comedian, taking 2023's Best Comedy Award at Perth's Fringe World, as well as Weekly Comedy Winner gongs at the Adelaide Fringe in 2019 and 2022.
