The mCareWatch is a personal emergency watch designed for the elderly and disabled to improve their personal safety.

It has been a life saver for countless wearers as well as offering peace of mind to families not living with their loved ones.

The watch has numerous safety features including automatic SOS calls to up to six pre-set contacts if the SOS button is activated, GPS and Wi-Fi location tracking, fall detection and non-movement alerts as well as auto answer and chat. Additionally, it can be used as a reminder function to alert the wearer that it is time to take medication or go to an appointment.

The current watch is the eighth iteration with the upgrades being:

• Adding different languages (Greek, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Flemish), which means all commands, reminders etc, are announced in these languages. On previous models this was only available in English.
• Fall detection – SOS is triggered when the watch detects a fall
• Monitor the wearer's heart rate and alerts sent to carers/family when the heart rate is too high or too low
• Easy to use Magnetic Recharger base (previous models could only be recharged with a small cable that attached to the back of the watch)
• Adding WhatsAPP VoIP feature (this allows the watch to connect to the home Wi-Fi to make and receive calls). This is offered to people with poor mobile connection. When the watch is at home it connects to the home Wi-Fi to make calls and once the wearer steps away from home, the watch automatically reverts and connects with the mobile network

For dementia wearers the SOS can be deactivated and it becomes more of a tracker. Numbers that aren't pre-programmed into the phone don't get through, putting an end to unwanted sales calls.

The mCareWatch is connected to the company's proprietary software platform called ConnectiveCare. This enables a carer or family member to access care-related data on a desktop or via a mobile App. This provides real time updates and notifications. It is based on a subscription model.

Product details

The mCareWatch retails for $499 and is available from mcaredigital.com.au. A Service Plan is required with each watch, which includes access to the ConnectiveCare dashboard, mobile APP and activated SIM card. The Service Plans are available in three plans Basic, Standard and Premium ranging in price from $35 per month to $69 per month, with the $49  Standard option the most popular.
