Families Behind Bars

Families Behind Bars is part of Kay Danes' personal crusade to raise awareness to the appalling conditions endured by those in foreign prisons - a crusade sparked by her own wrongful detention on Laos.
This is the story of real people and their families. Some are high-profile cases such as David Hicks and Schapelle Corby, other have never been told before - until now.
Kay Danes describes her passionate promise to help families who are sharing the sentence of hell with their loved ones behind the bars of overseas prisons. Included in the book are descriptions of conditions in some of the worst prisons on our planet and an emotive case against the death penalty.
Families Behind Bars will make you cry, it will cause you despair - but it will also inspire you and offer you the hope that nothing is impossible.
Kay Danes: and her husband Kerry spent almost a year wrongfully
imprisoned in communist laos after being accused of stealing sapphires
from a mine in 2000. After extensive political lobbying by the
Australian Government they were eventually pardoned. The couple were in
Laos providing corporate security services.
Kay has enjoyed a
unique and diverse career including establishing a body-guard business
for corporations working in hostile environments. Since her release from
prison she has become a best-selling author and international speaker.
She has delivered testimony to two US Congressional Forums - bringing to
prominence the genocide occurring in Laos.
